Did you know that bamboo is naturally hypoallergenic and kind to the skin? It has been reported that our products even aid with skin conditions such as Eczema and Psoriasis. Our eco-friendly tissue and wipes range are made from naturally derived materials and are free from any harsh chemicals, fragrances, de-inking agents and are BPA free.

I’ve been allergic to dust all my life. Whilst it does serve as a good excuse not to do the house cleaning, it has been a constant problem that causes instant blocking of my nose and sneezing fits almost instantaneously. Once I’ve had a reaction the effects can last for hours whilst my nose settles, and the inflammation reduces. Over the years, it’s been set off by chalk teachers boards, dust from building sites, friends house’s who have just done a spring clean – but quite noticeably also from toilet and tissue paper.

I started to notice the problem with tissue many years ago. I couldn’t work out why when I blew my nose, ironically to clear it, it was getting worse. One day, I noticed in the sunlight whilst tearing the tissue that literally thousands of dust particles ejected from the tissue when it is broken. I guess these dust particles also come off the surface of the tissue when in contact with someone’s face because the reaction I get from regular tissue is the same as from inhaling house dust – an instantly blocked nose and a few hours of discomfort.

Due to this issue, I have spent most of my life using hankies made of cloth. These become wet and dirty pretty quickly and it feels strange carrying your bogies around in your pocket and can be embarrassing if you need to pull out a snotty wet cloth on the train to catch an unexpected sneeze.

When a friend introduced me to The Cheeky Panda bamboo tissue, I was instantly sceptical. “There’s no dust” – she said. Ah, but in order to create a “tissue” without dust from bamboo, this paper must be hard and distinctly un-tissue like, I thought. I was wrong.

The Cheeky Panda’s bamboo tissue is just as soft and welcoming to the face as tissue made from tree pulp. The only two differences I can tell are that it’s slightly stronger, and most importantly, when you rip it, you see very little or zero dust. I’m told this is due to the difference in the structure of the fibres in bamboo, which are longer, stronger and less likely to break away than the smaller, lighter fibres in tissue made from trees.

Of course, the other additional benefit of The Cheeky Panda is that using bamboo is far kinder to the environment and uses way less carbon than cutting down thousands of trees. So, overall, I am a convert.

We use The Cheeky Panda now around the whole house for toilet tissue and for kitchen roll. Any dust reactions I get now are from my wife’s cleaning, and I can be confident when blowing my nose it won’t get worse. Worth a try if you suffer the same issues. (Mr H, Sussex)
