Bognor Birdman’s On A Roll
The International Bognor Birdman attracts contestants from around the world in a series of contests of who can fly the furthest with innovate flying machines and gliders. Last year the event raised thousands of pounds for charity and the event is at the heart of the community. The International Bognor Birdman is the oldest Birdman Rally in the world.
The event was cancelled early last week due to lack of funding until The Cheeky Panda came to rescue.
It was £10,000 short, and organisers made the tough decision to ground it.
The town stumped up £4k. The Cheeky Panda stepped in and donated the remaining £6k so that the birdman can fly again.
Here is BBC regional news bulletin about the event:
Chris Forbes, founder of The Cheeky Panda said: “It’s great to be able to support the community, Our brand is all about sustainability and fun and this fits perfectly with our products.”
“We love the idea of people being wild and wacky –all the contestants put a lot of hard work into their designs and charity fund-raising and we are delighted to make a difference.”
There is going to be lots of water throughout the day. The Cheeky Panda team will be providing facial tissues and hand towels to contestants and fans as the fun ensues.
The event will take place on 12/13th August. It’s a fun day out for all the family.
Come to watch slightly crazy people try to fly off the end of a pier.
The Cheeky Panda will also take part in the event. Watch out for a flying Panda.
