The Cheeky Panda is now committed to being carbon balanced
We are proud to announce The Cheeky Panda is now committed to being carbon balanced thanks to our partnership with the World Land Trust (WLT).
As you know, at The Cheeky Panda we are truly passionate about creating a sustainable world for future generations, so we are dedicated to preserving the natural environment on which we all depend.
We are working with the WLT as part of the ‘Carbon Balanced’ programme, where companies offset their carbon footprint by sponsoring projects that protect and preserve forests around the planet. This conservation action has huge importance not just for the forests, but the incredible diversity of animal that live there.
We have chosen to sponsor an area of north central Vietnam, called Khe Nuoc Trong – one of the best remaining examples of Annamite Lowland Forest in the world and home to a number of highly endangered species of mammal, birds, amphibians and reptiles.
Our sponsorship includes funding a team of rangers to carry out joint law enforcement activities with the local authorities that include patrolling, surveying hunting practices and illegal wildlife supply chains, monitoring and snare removal.
The project aims to elevate the level of protection for the forest to that of a Nature Reserve, to reduce pressures on the forest, preventing degradation and allowing degraded areas to return to being high quality forest again.
It is estimated that the protection of the forest at Khe Nuoc Trong will process approximately 50,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year for the next 30 years.
The WLT will now offset the 8.6tons of carbon emissions produced per 10 tons of manufactured bamboo tissue products, further improving our sustainable model of business with products that are already 65% more carbon efficient than conventional tissue.
This alliance sits within the core goals of The Cheeky Panda to create sustainable carbon neutral products whilst also protecting all the plants and animals in this most precious and beautiful rainforest – yet another reason to love our products even more!
