Bamboo is the world’s fastest growing plant, it’s our source and solution to making the tissue paper industry sustainable now and for the future. Bamboo is a grass, and unlike trees, regenerates from its own roots, requiring no fertiliser or replanting. As it grows bamboo absorbs up to 35% more carbon and produces 30% more oxygen than trees. Growing 30% faster than trees it is the most sustainable product in the paper market.
In addition to knowing your tissue paper supplies are an easy and ethical choice for your business, there are more benefits from using non-wood paper products. Bamboo fibres are longer and rounder, creating a naturally silky smooth and strong tissue, making it naturally less irritating than equivalent paper products.
Every aspect of our business considers the ethical and environmental impact the farming, manufacture and delivery of our products. We are proud to be the first, and so far only tissue brand in the UK to offer 100% FSC® certified products. This means that the bamboo forests we use for production have be independently audited and meet the FSC’s 10 Principles and Criteria for Forest Management.
We are also accredited by the Carbon Footprint Company, as we report the entire lifecycle of our products, each of which have a lower emissions footprint per sheet than non-bamboo equivalents. Per sheet our bamboo toilet paper emissions per sheet is 31% lower than recycled toilet tissue, and a massive 65.5% lower than non-recycled paper toilet tissue.
On 8 of March 2016 we started our carbon offset partnership with the World Land Trust in order to protect and rebuild the Khe Nuoc Trong rainforest in Vietnam. This will offset the 8.6tons of carbon produced per 10 tons of manufactured bamboo tissue products.
Whilst our bamboo tissue generate 65% less carbon carbon emissions than conventional tree based tissue, this project ensures that our tissue is carbon neutral, at the same time as protecting the trees, plants, and animals of the rainforest.
With input from World Land Trust, the project balances the needs of people, wildlife and the environment and is being designed to meet the internationally recognised standards of the Climate, Community and Biodiversity Alliance. This third-party certification will give an independent assessment of the net positive effects of the project socially, environmentally, and on biodiversity.
This summer, in 2019 we were recognised as a B Corporation. This strict, globally recognised criteria means that by partnering with us you will be associated with one of the most ethical and sustainable businesses in the world.
