Did you know that every brand of ‘flushable’ wet wipes failed the water industry’s breakdown tests in 2018?! When flushed out of sight, wet wipes join forces with oils and fats creating congealed sewer monsters called Fatbergs. These can grow up to the size of SIX DOUBLE DECKER BUSSES (yes… it’s just as gross as it sounds!) To fight the fatberg: stop dumping wet wipes down the loo and use our Cheeky Panda compostable alternatives instead!
Compostable Baby Wipe Experiment:
Their rapid breakdown has bamboozled many of our consumers, including the lovely Russ and Diana, who have been documenting the decomposition of The Cheeky Panda Baby Wipes in their compost bin. Their pictures show the baby wipes turning brown after just 10 days, marking the first signs of break down. Later pictures show no trace of the wipes after the pair had emptied the compost into their garden trench, indicating complete decomposition!
Thank you for sharing your images Russ and Diana – we hope that our wipes will add some Cheeky magic to your compost, producing some delicious runner beans next spring! We look forward to further updates over the winter period and keep up the great work.
What you can do?
Don’t feed the fatberg, feed nature… and compost! If you don’t have a compost bin do not fear, we have also made our wipes biodegradable – cause that’s how we roll 😉 If you want to find out more about biodegradation and composting check out our previous blog post: ‘#ZeroWasteWeek: Biodegradable Vs Compostable.’
