What an oar-some day we had this Saturday!
The Cheeky Panda team donned their finest lifejackets and took part in The Lord Mayor’s Dragon Boat Race Day, raising money for The World Land’s Trust.
The annual event took place at Fairlop Waters, and was attended by 13 different teams and lots of lovely supporters (including our very own Panda Jaban)! The other teams participating included other companies, charities and corporate institutions, as well as Team GB’s very own Under 18 Dragon Boat Race team – who showed everyone how it’s done!
We ended the day narrowly missing out on the semi-finals but our pandas paddled their hearts away. The major achievement of the day was raising money for The World Land’s Trust, a very important charity for us at Panda HQ.
The World Land’s Trust is an international conservation organisation that takes action to save rainforest and other wildlife habitats. WLT work with local organisations in Central and South America, Asia and Africa, and has helped protect over 760,000 acres of wildlife habitats. The charity has been endorsed by various figureheads, including Sir David Attenborough, who has been quoted saying “the money that is given to the World Land Trust, in my estimation, has more effect on the wild word than almost anything I can think of.”
We continue to support the charity through its Carbon Balanced Program, offsetting the carbon our company produces.
If you’d like to support The Wild Land’s Trust through The Cheeky Panda, donations can be made via this link: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/thecheekypandadragonboat.
Just £25 will protect 1000m2of habitat (25% of an acre).
